I acquired this shedplate at a recent auction, no other details known about its provenance. On top of that it was a murky day (the Scots have a good word for it - "dreich") and the sun didn't shine until mid-afternoon. Looking at it now I see that the formation of the 6-coach train was two-thirds BR Mk.1 and one-third Gresleys on the later, steel-angle underframe: BSK, SO, SO*, CK, SO, BCK* (* Gresley). Lack of nameplates doesn't disguise the class's elegant lines. We've dug through our archive at the Yorkshire Evening Post to find these photos take you back to Leeds in 1972.
